Antique Edwardian Albert Watch Chain with Dog Clip, T-Bar and Medal

This quality Antique Albert Chain features a T-bar drop and dog clip fastening, along with an engraved medal / medallion. The chain is modelled in Sterling Silver, hallmarked for Birmingham 1908. The medal is then a later addition, also modelled in Sterling Silver with a Gold front, dating to Birmingham 1927. The medal is engraved to the reverse, reading 'G.L.Q.L 1927' along with a full set of hallmarks. An albert chain is a decorative chain, originally used to attach a pocket watch to the wearer's clothing. The chain was named after Prince Albert, who was said to have been fond of wearing watch chains. The Dog clip would have been used to attach the pocket watch to and the T-Bar would go through the button hole of a waistcoat to secure in place. This is a quality example of an Albert chain which would make a great necklace or addition to any collection.
