This beautiful Antique Mourning ring features three old cut Diamonds and two Pearls with crisp Black Enamelling, modelled in 18ct Yellow Gold. This ring is fully hallmarked for Chester, 1899, dating to the late Victorian era. Black Enamel was used in jewellery to signify mourning. The trend of mourning jewellery reached its high point after the death of Prince Albert in 1861, when Queen Victoria, as well as members of her court, wore black clothing and matching mourning jewellery for decades. The Pearls each have a wonderful lustre and symbolise the tears shed of a loved one. This is a beautiful highly collectable ring which would make a great addition to any collection.
