Fine example of quality British bracket clock craftmanship by Bentima / Davall. In 1937, The Bentima Company purchased Davall and Sons, who afterwards continued to operate as a separate subsidiary company in the design and production of fine English clocks. As such, in c1950, Davall introduced a brand-new timepiece movement, a superbly engineered 8-day, 7-jewelled lever escapement mechanism, which received rave reviews in the related worlds press when it came to market. It remained in production for around 6 years, so in relative terms, only a small number of these fabulous movements have survived today. This clock is fitted with one of these diminutive rear-winding movements, accessed via its rear hinged door and protected by a transparent Perspex dust cover. The movement is in excellent condition (having recently been serviced) and keeps exceptional time. It is signed on both the brass backplate and fixed winding key with the Davall name. The clocks lovely arched Oak case and case garniture was built by Davall’s owners Bentima and generally, is in excellent condition. (To the front of the clock, the veneer graining has been aligned in opposite directions to offering an Art Deco esc effect to the render). The clocks clean chapter ring, (signed "Bentima"), has black Roman numerals and a pair of original chrome Skeleton style hands, the dial is then protected by a fixed convex glazed cover, mounted in a chrome bezel. *Payment: - Debit / Credit Cards.
