Description
This is a large, late 17th Century (c.1680) English antique cast brass, pierced skimmer with fishtail end to handle. This type of skimmer with very slight curve to the bowl was used in the kitchens, for skimming stocks and preserves, and also in the dairy for skimming cream. This example is cast in one piece. There is a very worn makers mark at the end of the handle near to the skimmer.
