Lovely Victorian Silver & Cut Glass Cayenne Bottle & Spoon

A delightful and rare silver mounted cayenne bottle & spoon, by the great George Fox. This unusual piece dates from the mid Victorian period. The glass bottle is of clear glass, with a wide band of hobnail cutting, in addition to step and slice cutting. The rim is flared and lobed. The silver spoon is gilded and has a cut glass ball finial, echoing the hobnail cutting on the bottle design. The bottle would have been for cayenne pepper, a condiment served at the table in the 18th/19th Century. A lovely collector's piece.
