Marquetry Inlaid Figured Walnut Glazed Bookcase

A distinguished Victorian glazed bookcase, circa 1870, in finely figured walnut. The upper section is fitted with twin glazed doors, each framed with delicate floral and foliate inlay. Inside there are three height adjustable shelves, ideal for housing a fine library or curated display of treasured objects. Beneath, the base cabinet features a beautifully inlaid frieze with two drawers, each with brass drop handles. The lower cupboard doors mirror the elegance of the upper section, with striking diamond-shaped marquetry panels and inlaid columns either side. There is a single shelf inside offering a large storage space. The entire piece is crowned with a bold stepped fixed cornice, with marquetry inlay and finished with delicate beaded edge. Displaying a richly grained figured walnut and polished to a deep, lustrous sheen, this bookcase is not only functional but deeply decorative. The condition is excellent throughout.
