Original Oil on Card 'Abstract Forms' by Stan Dobbin - Framed & Signed c.1960 - Provenance; Purchased Directly from the Artist

Printer and painter who was born in Birmingham in 1929. He studied in there at the School of art from 1947-1952. After that he taught at Newton Abbot and then Manchester school of art until his retirement in 1984. He was very influenced by the German Expressionists and the British neo-romantic school and in particular, Edward Wadsworth. His paintings, drawings and prints show these styles to great effect with a heavy emphasis on figurative subjects. He was a member of the Manchester Academy of Fine art and had one man show at the Bluecoats Gallery in Liverpool. He was represented in many mixed exhibitions and was hung in the inaugural John Moores exhibition held in 1957. He also illustrated 3 books by Jack Clemo, the poet and one by Fiona Pitt-Kethley.
