Original Tempera on Board 'Wiltshire Hillside' by Peter Gardner Roi - Signed on the Reverse & Framed

Fine tempera on board by this Centenarian artist who took part in the D Day landings in 1944. Painter in oil, watercolour and etching. He was born in London and attended the Hammersmith School of Art 1935-38. During the war he served in Italy and the European campaign. After the war he took advantage of the Government scheme to send soldiers to college and he returned to Hammersmith for another 3 years where he was taught by Herbert Holt and Harold Workman. He taught in Fulham and other areas of London. He was elected a member of the Royal Society of Oil painters in 1977. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy, New English Art club and the Roi. The painting is framed in a 20th Century swept moulding. There is a little damage to the corners with some missing gesso as indicated on the photo's.
