Description
A quality English made open-faced silver fusee pocket watch, hallmarked Chester 1896.
Named the “Improved Patent” model, (as seen on the watch dial), this lovely watch has a white enamelled dial with its original gold main hands, and subsidiary second’s dial, all protected by its original glass cover. It would have been almost certainly made specifically for the railway sector due to its weight, robust composition, and bold hand-painted Roman numerals.
The case maker was Jesse Hallam (“J.H”), of Hertford Place, Coventry, and the case and movement serial numbers are the same, “15897.” (The dust cap being numbered “897”).
The watch’s fabulous unsigned fusee movement has an engraved Coventry Star Mark (the endorsement of engineering excellence), with a compensated balance and ruby end stone.
The watch comes securely packed with a winding key, together with instructions on how to wind and set the watch time.
Note: This watch does not come with a chain or fob. If you require a silver chain/fob from our large stock, please contact us for advice.
