Seikosha (Seiko) Inlaid Mahogany Mantle / Bracket Clock c.1918 World War 1 Period

Seikosha was the Pre Runner to Seiko. Starting in 1881 Kinato Horatti opened a clock and jewellery shop and in 1891 setup a clock manufacturing company called Seikosha - now called Seiko- the famous watch maker. He invested heavily in the latest American clock making technology. Rare attractive mahogany with quality inlay decoration. Dial inscribed “Manufactured by Seikosha Tokyo Japan and the Trade Mark “S” within a Diamond and a Circle. Single strike on the half hour and the number of hours on the o’clock. Sliver plated presentation plaque dated 1918.
