Our business is based in the beautiful village of Debenham in Suffolk, England, which is close to Constable country. I take our pride in being the 4th generation in my family to be antique dealers who have been buying and selling antiques for over a century. With our expanding web presence in the UK, we also have a base in the USA with Debenham Antiques inc. Along with expanding our international web based business, we also quite unusually retain our high street presence, with a large retail shop which we use to display our finest goods, and to offer the client a more personal service for the those who like to discuss their needs.
Here at Debenham Antiques we try to cater for all styles and tastes, and we believe this is reflected in our stock as you can find anything from 15th century carvings to late 20th century fine quality furniture. We have experts in furniture and paintings who buy our goods with safe knowledge. We also offer a wide range of fine quality reproduction furniture which is all lovingly handcrafted by ourselves locally, using the best timbers.

Good quality Swedish 19th Century (c.1870) antique birch inlaid bureau bookcase of grand proportions. Comprising of 2 parts, upper cupboard and the bureau and drawers. Top section surmounted with a shaped architectural cornice, below which is a double door cupboard decorated with salt and pepper stringing and star motifs. Lockable doors open to reveal an interior of 4 fixed shelves, made in dark pine. Below, the bureau front is inlaid with swags and drops down to form a writing height of 27 1/2". The bureau interior is fully fitted, made in burr birch and further decorative inlay. Central tabernacle with banks of drawers either side and underneath. Below the fall are 2 over 2 graduating drawers, each fitted with ornate brass handles. Standing on a later bracket foot frame. Expected minor surface marks from use. Minor restoration to age splits on doors. Rich golden colour and ready for everyday use.
