The chick is not only a design classic, but also a testament to the man who, as an apprentice to Joseph Bramah, could never have believed his work on patenting the mechanical pencil would blossom into such a massive boom in small silver items being manufactured by silversmiths in workshops across the British Isles and exported across the world.
