Victorian Solid Mahogany Brass Bound Jewellery Box + Tray c.1860

No missing or replaced wood. No shrinkage splits. Inlaid brass cartouche and escutcheon. Three inlaid brass corner pieces to each of the 4 corners. All inlays are original, complete and firmly fixed. The lid closes perfectly square. The box interior has been refurbished to a high standard. Silk ruched panel set within a silk covered frame to the lid interior. The tray comprises of 12 sections, 2 of which feature silk covered lids with ornate gilt ring pull knobs. Please note the nice finishing touch of the silk covered upper edges of the tray and all of the dividers to complement the lids and inner lid panel. The additional effort reflects the time, skills and consideration of the person that did the refurbishment. Side metal handles to assist in removing the tray to access the storage area beneath that features a lightly padded covered silk panel to the base. The small storage areas of the tray and large open area of the storage area beneath ensures that this box is ideal for storing both small and large items of jewellery.
