Description
We present for consideration, this splendid and well-appointed fusee wall clock with 12” dial, by noted provincial clock and watchmaker John Huggins of East Rudham, Norfolk. Born 1854, in Shimpling, Norfolk, Huggins was operating from 18 Back Street, East Rudham in 1877, whilst residing above these business premises with his wife Mary and their two young daughters. It is believed that he passed away in March 1916 at Docking, Norfolk, age 62. (The clock comes with a c1885 image of Huggins with his wife Mary). The clocks solid narrow turned Mahogany roundhead face, sits over its boxed cabinet. There is a hinged inspection door located to the side of the box and an operable lockable regulator door located at the bottom of the box. The clock retains its original convex metal dial, with black Roman numerals and Huggins details, finished with its original pair of blued Breguet Empire hands, secured with a pinned collet. The clocks dial is then protected by convex glaze mounted in a brass bezel. The clock benefits from a quality 8-day single fusee chain driven movement set between shouldered plates and turned pillars and comes with a 65mm diameter brass pendulum bob and a brass winding key.
