Arthur Spooner (1873-1962) was born in Nottingham and trained at the School of Art there, he also went on to teach landscape and figurative painting there. He was one of the great British impressionist painters, he was a member of the Nottingham Society of Artists and The Royal Society of British Artists and exhibited at every major gallery including a remarkable 144 times in Nottingham and 83 times at The Royal Society of British Artists.
