Description

This is an unusual boxed WW1 white metal pocket instrument. The face is marked 'Made in France', hence probably made there for the English. The main body has a compass on one side with a mirror for signalling purposes on the reverse. It has an extendable rod which has a double hinged lens attached, and a large double lens at the other end. It was designed with multi-uses - including compass, binoculars, magnifying glass, stereoscope, dual lens or single telescope, simple magnifier (when second lens is doubled over) and opera glasses.

Condition

Good condition for its age. There is a crack right at the edge of one of the large lenses, and some marks to the mirror. The box is original but a bit tatty and has been repaired with tape.
