Description

This is a lovely Georgian sterling silver muffineer or small caster. It was made by John Newton who registered his mark in 1726. It has been made with a thick gauge of silver and attractively decorated including a vacant cartouche. There is no damage but there is an old repair to the inside of the pull off lid. The muffineer stands firmly on a raised circular base which is double struck with the makers mark and hallmarked with the lion.

A fine early Georgian silver muffineer.
