Rare Late Victorian Sugar Caster by W & J Barnard, London 1893. This lovely Sugar Caster is very heavy (11 ozt) Very unusual design. Assayed for London with the mark of renowned silversmiths, W & J Barnard. The design is in the form of a neo classical urn with 2 lion mask drop ring handles with a low domed 'pull off' cover with an acorn finial.
The lion masks are connected by looped drapes. There is a series of very fine beading (5) as refined decorations around the caster and cover.
This classical, neo Robert Adam style sugar caster by W & J Barnard is exceedingly rare. I have not seen one before.
