Description

John Samuel Hunt was a very important silversmith in the 19th century. Under Hunt & Roskell he was continuing the business started by Paul Storr and he was himself a silversmith to Queen Victoria.

On offer is a fine dinner plate which was made by John Hunt and hallmarked in London 1853. It has been made with a heavy gauge of silver and is in very good condition. An ornate decoration of shell and flowers has been applied to the scalloped rim. Hallmarks are clearly struck and the plate is also stamped 'late Storr & Mortimer'
