According to Lisney, author of A Bibliography of British Lepidoptera, Harris was "one of the most outstanding authors of entomological literature during the eighteenth century." This work is known as his best, presenting scientific ideas in highly artistic illustrations.

It was originally published by Harris in 1766 and is on laid paper a later reissue by Bohn in 1840 is on polished rag paper. Moses Harris 1731-85 was an 'Aurelian' the ancient term for a lepidopterist. These as in all my pictures are cheaper collected and in this case cheaper for the set of 4.
