Description
George I Britannia silver kitchen pepper pot, with a cylinder form, reeded scrolled hand, initial engraving to the underside, S over I K, and a push-fit sterling silver lid with trefoil piercing. Hallmarked in London, 1723, with the makers mark I O for George Greenhill Jones.

The cylinder measures 38mm wide by 62mm long (inc. handle), with a base width of 51mm and a lid width of 40mm, by 81mm high (inc. lid), and has a silver weight of 61.3g
declaration
Sterling Choice has clarified that the George I 1723 Britannia Silver Cylinder Kitchen Pepper Pot Hallmarked London (LA534802) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1723
condition
Some dents to the underside, and a small split to the handle. The base is Britannia silver and the lid is sterling silver. Britannia standard was in force between the 27th of March 1697 to the 1st of June 1720, after then was optional. The lid and base maybe a marriage of parts, but they fit well and contemporarily match.
