Description
For sale is this Arts & Crafts style vase.
The style of the vase is very similar to Christopher Dresser and other studio potteries. He designed a similar vase with the very top at an angle. These are often described as Gourd vases. Due to the glaze and body of this vase I have simply said... style of.
Pilkingtons Royal Lancastrian art pottery introduced in 1904 (please see the advertisement... the new English Pottery) at Graves gallery, London, as per the Studio 1904.
Lewis F Day was the only designer mentioned in the exhibition brochure.
The vase is identical to the one in the advert. Plus the transmutation glaze would indicate Pilkingtons Lancastrian Ware.
However no firm attribution is given .
Its simply in the style of Pilkingtons ( as above) .
On refection these may even be French .
I've stated earthenware and not stoneware, that's my opinion only.
There is now two of these vases as per last photos. The other has has a small chip which I can get restored as it is pottery with a thick glaze. Easily achieved.
The price includes the other pair of similar glazed jugs .
Thats £125 for all four items .( was £345)
See photos 7 and 8 .
